But now new information suggests that their closest relative is the beaver (this has not yet been proven). They have tons of personality and love people. They don't bite and are very affectionate.

2006-10-06 [Asrun]: $10-15. That's in Canadian dollars. But they get pretty big.. (female rat-sized) So they need a big cage, which will cost you. I'm going to be making my own verticle-style cage out of acrylic soon. :) It'll be big. The thing with degu's, is that you should always buy more than one because they need to socialize.

I know you're not supposed to nominate YOURSELF for awards like the Cutest Girl or Cutest Boy or Artist, etc. But the pet ones have almost always been nominated by their owners. >.>

Like I said, in years past all the nominations I saw of pets were of people's own pets, except this year.

2011-10-03 [Eyes of the Reaper]: I think it should be a limit. For example, if I had Tessa and Sirius nominated, I wouldn't want them together. Maybe limit it to two pets per person and expand the nominations? Like, make it 15-20 slots instead of 10?

It actually seems kind of silly to have three winners when four people are nominated for some awards, but whatever. =P

But that's a sacrifice people will have to make if they nominate twice. I do think people should be allowed to request a nomination removal if they don't want to be on the ballot. I didn't think about it before, but I really didn't want to be on Cutest Girl or Best House because I'd already won those.

It's the same with the wiki nominations. You can nominate your own wikis and you'll be the one winning the award, but it doesn't violate the rules, since it isn't yourself you're nominating, but something you own.
Plus, restricting the pets you can vote for to only those owned by other people would serve no purpose and not nearly as many people would nominate things. Because honestly, who keeps up with everyone else's pets?

The Elfpack Awards pages, like all other official pages, are being redesigned using the new official template.
Also, the new four times a year system was implemented both to reduce the workload for the Awards Staff, and to make it harder to win these awards, in an effort to make them seem more "special".
